The matter of the identification number

However, some of these seals don't always tell the whole story. Many manufacturers therefore shift the final production step to the country whose name appears on the packaging – while the animals and ingredients actually come from somewhere completely different. In other words: Your "Italian" mozzarella doesn't necessarily have to come from Italy.
